Social Detritus

I discovered this found object installation on a recent hike.  It was set into a stone retaining wall where the trail crossed a road.  I imagine these were found while cleaning up trash along the side of the road.  Placing them in this configuration elevates them to a commentary on society.  These are objects  were once deemed as valuable and worth obtaining.  They then had little value as they lie broken and lost by the side of the road.  But presenting them for consideration in this manner gives one pause to think about the transient nature of what we hold as valuable and in so doing imparts an intrinsic value on them as art rather than mere social detritus.
