I discovered this found object installation on a recent hike.\u00a0 It was set into a stone retaining wall where the trail crossed a road.\u00a0 I imagine these were found while cleaning up trash along the side of the road.\u00a0 Placing them in this configuration elevates them to a commentary on society.\u00a0 These are objects\u00a0 were once deemed as valuable and worth obtaining.\u00a0 They then had little value as they lie broken and lost by the side of the road.\u00a0 But presenting them for consideration in this manner gives one pause to think about the transient nature of what we hold as valuable and in so doing imparts an intrinsic value on them as art rather than mere social detritus.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
