December Open Studio

openfigure

Went to the December open studio session at the local arts center.  I really like the gesture drawings, but still have to work on my patience for the longer poses.  Stuck in a bit if an artistic rut.  Need to really try to work on some new projects in the spring.  Will probably work on a few serigraphs as soon as the weather allows.

Happy Holidays

Best wishes to all this holiday season.

Making the Card

Lately, it seems hard to find time for art.  At least the annual holiday card ritual offers an opportunity to stop and do something creative.  This is how this year’s was made.

Eastern Sojourn

drumlin

Side of the drumlin behind my parents house. The drumlin and surrounding pine barrens were my refuge as a kid.

skull

Gray squirrel skull found on the drumlin.

Spent some time at my childhood home back east last month when both parents were hospitalized.  They are now back home and doing well, but it gave me some time to hang out in the woods behind their house – where I felt like I spent most of my childhood.  It was also a great opportunity to gather materials for this year’s holiday card.

Boreal Guest

redtailed

Lots of red-tailed hawks hanging around this year.  Usually means a very cold winter to the north.  This one has been spotted around the yard and may be spending the season with us.
