Into the Woods

Made it out into the woods last weekend.  Slogged along trails muddy from spring rains.  Saw quite a few birds for it being late in the day and early in the season.  Got a recording of a red-bellied woodpecker using the memo feature on the camera.  Saw bluebirds for the first time in a few years.

… and your old men shall dream dreams

Not too long ago, I had a dream.  It is what I like to call a “context-less” dream – all of the places, characters and actions are novel to my daily live. In this dream, I was living in New York City.  The dream was very vivid and I remembered two things very clearly; the address was 5th Street at 8th Avenue and the building had very distinctive horizontal stripes on the lower floor.  Some time later in the day, I googled the address (not knowing if it was even a real location) and was very surprised to see the building from my dream.  It was indeed a residential address in the Park Slope section of Brooklyn.

I have never been to this part of Brooklyn or seen this building before.  Since having the dream, I have learned that my maternal grandfather went to Erasmus Hall School, which is not too far from this location.  Does it mean anything?  I don’t know, but I will be stopping by this building some time this summer.

Hey, they Stole my Meme

It is not really a meme, and they did not steal it, but the ” inter-galactic” vocal group, Voca People, bears an uncanny resemblance to my sculpture, La Décennie du Moi.  Even stranger, they performed at Place Des Arts this year as part of MONTRÉAL EN LUMIÈRE.  I submitted a proposal to exhibit La Décennie du Moi as part of the same festival this year and exhibited at Place Des Arts last year.  Voca People is performing locally next week.
